Cat Woman

Apart from the ever-present cat hair woven into my clothing, it may not be obvious to the casual observer that I am, in fact, a cat woman. Consider, however, the following clues:

  • I’m the person who goes places JUST because there are cats there, like the little bookstore in Lincoln, Nebraska that has two shop cats. I gravitate to bookstores anyway, but I made a special trip to visit that one just because of the cats! (In case you’re interested, it’s called “A Novel Idea” and it’s pretty fabulous … as are the two sweet cats, Padric and Eddy.)  The famous Algonquin Hotel in New York City?  I went there not to spend the night, not to see the home of the Round Table, but to visit Matilda the Cat!  She was, of course, fabulous.
  • I’m the person who notices the kitty in the movie, even if it’s only on screen for a second, and even when everything else in the scene on screen is chaos. (I don’t care what happens to anybody else in the movie, but if the world is going up in flames, just SAVE THE KITTY!)
  • I’m the person who spends most of my time at a party with the homeowner’s cat, rather than with the other guests. Dare I say that the cats are almost always far more interesting than the people??
  • I’m the person who is drawn to cats everywhere she goes, even in a foreign country! I can spot a Moggie from the other end of the street when we’re both out wandering around in a little English village, and I’ve been delighted to sit next to them in pubs.  Finding a feline friend makes me feel at home anywhere in the world!
  • I’m the person who looks forward to the weekend so I can spend more time playing … with my cats.  Or napping with them.  Because time spent with cats is never wasted, no matter what you’re doing.
